Tamakwa Experiences Outdoor and Experiential Education program is inspired by a love of nature and appreciation for our beautiful setting on South Tea Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park. Our “unplugged” education experiences in the natural world, whether in camp or on the trail, celebrate the best in outdoor learning and adventure for youth groups. In addition to reconnecting with nature, our programs are designed to build community, enrich curricular content and help students build interpersonal skills through face-to-face real time relationships.
We are delighted to offer Outdoor and Experiential Education experiences to schools looking for customized programs. In 2020, we are fortunate to have Linda Leckie and Don Standfield working with our school groups to design quality experiential programs that take advantage of all that Algonquin Park has to offer. Linda brings a wealth of experiences as an outdoor educator, wilderness travel guide, and program developer to Tamakwa Experiences. Don Standfield, cultural custodian and storyteller, adds a unique perspective as a landscape photographer and sculptor of natural materials.
Camp Tamakwa is able to accommodate student groups of up to 350 participants in our rustic bunkhouse style wood cabins. Our Chef de Cuisine, Phil, and his staff will provide nutritious homemade family style meals and cater to all dietary restrictions and food allergies.
At Tamakwa Experiences, we are committed to providing holistic educational experiences in our outdoor classroom. It is our hope that students return to their school energized and recharged, and with a deeper relationship with themselves, their classmates and the natural world.
